When Objects Work

When do objects work? According to Beatrice de Lafontaine, When Objects Work founder, objects work when there's a preoccupation with simple forms, immaculate function and a timeless idiom.  That's why WOW (we love the abbreviation) produces and distributes some of the finest tabletop items around by leading designers and architects.

From its first collection shown at the Milan Furniture Fair in 2001, When objects work has pursued the principle that everyday objects may be useful and beautiful, commissioning designers to explore the theme of decorative art as superlative domestic equipment in the fullest and most challenging ways possible and developing innovative manufacturing solutions where necessary. Most of the objects are hand-made with authentic materials & traditional craftsmanship.

Aside from Belgium's leading designers such as Vincent Van Duysen, Maarten Van Severen or Bataille & Ibens, you have big international names: Richard Meier, John Pawson and Palomba Serafini. Our favourite? We would be more then happy to have the bright hand blown coloured glass pebbles of Kate Hume on our desk! We're wondering what Beatrice will showcase in Milan this year.... Let's wait and see.
