Senteurs d'Ailleurs

As Christmas is just around the corner, the I Love Belgium team will bring you some fabulous shopping destinations over the next few weeks! We start with Europe's biggest niche perfume shop, Senteurs d'Ailleurs, located in the heart of Brussels. This family-owned shop relocated some moths ago and reinvented itself through a new visual identity and shop interior. In other words: a shop worthwhile discovering.

The story of Senteurs d'Ailleurs started when the Pater Familias, Pierre Donie, lost his broker job due to his employer's bankruptcy fraud. He was 47 years old and out of a job. It so happened that Pierre and his wife Zouzou were both passionate about the Provence and scents of the south. Logically enough, they created a space in Brussels that was totally dedicated to fragrances of the Mediterranean.

When the daughter, Laurence, joined the family business, she soon identified the demands and characteristics of the uptown clientèle: a real need for innovation, creativity and exclusivity. The concept of Senteurs d'Ailleurs was born: the exact opposite of so-called “selective” perfume sector, aka big chains that gobble up nearly 95% of the market.

Today this results in a range of exclusive perfume brands such as Penhaligon’s,  Les parfums de Rosine, L’Artisan Parfumeur, Creed, Editions de parfums Frédérique Malle, James Heeley, Geoffrey Beene, Maison Francis Kurkdjian and many, many more. So many that you'll need the advice of the lovely and experienced staff!

But Senteurs d’Ailleurs is much more than a perfume shop. With the relocation they now also explore every aspect of well-being and beauty.  In the fully white interior of the Haute Cosmitique you can find brands such as Eve Lom, Aesop, Bumble&Bumble, Laura Mercier, Santa Maria Novella, Dermalogica, Deborah Lippman, .... There's also a barbershop, skinbar and nailbar. And if you can't get enough, then you just pamper yourself in the beauty institute with a La Mer, Eve Lom or Dermalogica treatment!

So what are you waiting for? Let's go Christmas shopping!
