Laetitia Bica Photography

It pops, it's joyful, it's fashion: it's photographer Laetitia Bica. A reason to remember this name? First of all,  she's the imaginary lovechild of David LaChapelle and Jean-Paul Goude. Secondly, she's been published in magazines such as Marie-Claire, Zoot magazine, Weekend Le Vif and Victoire Magazine. Thirdly, she definitely knows how to shake up the Belgian photography scene.

How can we recognize a Laetitia Bica image? There are some simple rules:  Laeitita cheats with reality, by diverting, distorting and transforming what she sees in a vision of beauty offset. Then there's the use of colours, setting, backdrops, cliches and humor. And of course we can't forget the porcelain looking models, beings of flesh and blood that freeze into toy pop. The point she makes? She leads us to reflect on the plastic ideal that is  imposed on glossy magazine paper.

Her keen eye for aesthetics with a little touch of psychedelica demands you to look twice. The I Love Belgium team made a selection of her commercial work but also the more sober work like her matrioska. Our favourite one? We'll go for the Kaleidoscope!
