Golden Architecture

It's rare, at least in Belgium, to see a real estate developer who takes into account the esthetics of architecture. But this project, titled Gouden Boom (Dutch for Golden Tree), went all the way. Located in the historic city centre of Bruges, the architects of 3ARCHITECTEN carefully took into account the history of the former brewery, proving that old and new perfectly go hand in hand.

Build around a green courtyard, the several volumes, with their strong dynamic rooftop lines, make an interesting counterpart for the surrounding historic buildings. Add the brown and coppered colored stone cladding, the white paneling and the loose volume play and you get a coherent urban tissue. When looking at one of the 33 apartments, you can see bright open spaces with big green terraces which look upon the green courtyard.

Just have a look at the pictures and you will understand why you'll want to live there. Let's hope that some of Belgians biggest real-estate developers are I Love Belgium adepts and take the hint.
