Girls From Omsk - FW10

During Paris Fashion Week, I Love Belgium also paid a visit to Brussels based Valeria Siniouchkina, and her label Girls From Omsk in her Paris showroom hosted by the Flanders Fashion Institute. For their Fall 2010 collection, GFO stays true to their vision: street couture. Tailored hoodies, t-shirts with cool prints and jackets shooting up your street credibility in no time.
But the Fall collection’s title “Girls From Omsk go to Paris” added a French touch to the label. Puffy sleeves, girly details on a checkered shirt or blazers and t-shirts with gold or silver embroidered brooches. It all made the whole collection smarter or ‘habillé’ how the French would call it. Even the quilted rubber boots looked very chic.
The GFO crew went back home to Russia to shoot the catalogue and no better location than the Red Square for the Girls to start their trip to Paris. Maybe the Russian likes –understated is not really in the Russian dictionary– is where Valeria got her inspiration for her Fall 2010 jeans showing tens of short gold zippers in the front. So over the top it becomes an instant must-have. Be sure to be skinny and to wear some dangerous high heels with it and say ‘da’.
