Fred and the Belgians

Iconic British fashion brand Fred Perry is celebrating its sixtieth year of existence. And what do you do when its your birthday? You invite a select group of friend to go wild! And that's what Fred did. He invited sixty of his most loyal and distinguished fans, designers, musicians and sports people to customise a 1952 reproduction shirt. And guess what, five of those friends are Belgians!

This Belgian group of Fred lovers is made up of electro rock band Goose, director/photographer and curator Pierre Debusschere, established fashion designer Raf Simons, graphic designer Tom Tosseyn and "Antwerp Six" fashion designer Walter Van Beirendonck. Each of them created a design around the famous Laurel Wreatch emblem. After travelling the world for a year these shirts will be auctioned off for a good cause: the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

So which one do you like? The graphic rainbow-coloured flag-shirt of Tom or the collage of punk badges by Raf? Or are you more a Goose black and white fan? We guess the candle dripping effect of Pierre's shirt will also find some lovers! But we have to admit, the I Love Belgium team is in love with Walter's interpretation of the iconic Peter Pan quote and laurel bearer!
