One of I Love Belgium’s main objectives is to support young and upcoming talent. The brand new architectural office B-ILD in Brussels certainly matches both criteria.
Kelly Hendriks and Bruno Despierre have worked at the finest architectural agencies in Belgium and the rest of the world. Bruno worked for Conix Architects who did the entire renovation of the Atomium (and also designed the new Atomium pavilion). Kelly travelled the world studying in Japan, doing a Master in Architecture and Urban Culture in Madrid and working for OMA in New York and 51N4E in Brussels.
Last year the two friends decided to join forces to create B-ILD. A very clever decision since they’ve worked on some very interesting projects since they’ve started. Their architectural aesthetics can be described as minimalist (I’m sure Tadao Ando is a great inspiration to them). One of their newest projects (not mentioned on the site yet but I Love Belgium was tipped of by a very good source) is the first Le Fabuleux Marcel De Bruxelles flagshipstore that will be situated on the Varkensmarkt in Brussels.
